I met Drop " D" in January 1991. I found it fascinating when he told me that he was a musician and performed in a live band. At first I thought that he was pulling my leg. Especially since I knew of no one that performed with a live band. He told me that he was a Bass Guitar Player. I'm thinking, "he he's got to be kidding me." But then there was that first date. I got to see him perform with Ellen V and "The Straight to The Point Band," in Brooksville, Florida.

In 2010 Drop D. decided to venture on his own. He stopped performing with C. L. West and the Touch of Class Band. Again he put together another band and called them 2nd Phaze. But then there was still that void. So one day he's talking with a friend and they tell him about Internet radio. After checking it out he knew that it was something he could work with. "The Jimmie Williams Show” was born. So each day he came up with ideas how to make his show bigger and better. Then he thought, this is a great way for me to give something back to the community." What he did was put together annual events such as, :the Horse Shoe Shoot Off, Family Day in the Park and "A Mother's Day celebration held at "The Grand Avenue park each year. There’s also a “Jump for Joy” jump rope contest for kids held at The Wells Built Museum.” In effort to be diverse, Drop D. created “The Gospel Explosion Show which was aired on WOKB 1680 AM every Tuesday for one hour. It is also aired every Sunday on “The Jimmie Williams Show.” What he did was reach out to some of the community business owners to sponsor in on these events. PAST (Wells Built Museum) has been one of his biggest supporters. Drop D. also created the P.C. Magazine (Parramore Community) to provide historical information as well as use it for advertisement for himself, his events and his sponsor's.  He continues to bring on more household name sponsors and add additional topics & entertainment to "The Jimmie Williams show." He continues to add cultural events to his community calendar and have many community ties. He currently has an office in the Wells Built Museum, located in downtown Orlando.

DROP D

As time moved on Drop D.

As time moved on Drop D. continued to work on many other projects in his life. Just to name a few, there was recording music, selling furniture, including opening a furniture store in downtown Orlando. Though he continued to perform with C. L. West and "The Touch of Class Band." something still seemed to be missing.

As far has his stage performance he continues to perform on stage and has performed on the same stages as many other great musicians. He has also created close personal relationships with some of those musicians such as "Atlantic Starr and "Zapp." Recently he has been selected to perform as an unsigned artist on the 2013 world tour.

Drop D. has become an inspiration to the community. I'll have to admit that over the years he has become more cultivated and his performance becomes more and more prominent with each and every show. he would always say, "practice makes perfect." I have to admit, he was right. It always shows when he's on stage or making business decisions.

At first I'm thinking wow "Is this really happening?" It's not every day that one gets to go out on a date with a professional musician. I was rally fascinated by his performance as well as the band's performance as a whole. In other words, I was blown away by their talent. I couldn't get over the fact that I was really seeing him play this Bass Guitar.

"

He has been performing for more than 20 years and it gets better each time. His dream is to perform on a big stage such as the Amway Arena or The Bob Carr Auditorium.

"

"

It was as though he tried to fill some type of void in his life. By him keeping so busy and not slowing down, I felt that it was partially responsible for his attack in the year 2007. The day of his heart attack was officially the day that he stopped smoking. It changed his life. I believe he did some deep soul searching.

"

Then there was C. L. West and The touch of Class band. Performing with C L. West and The Touch of Class Band was a huge learning experience for him as well as exciting. Personally I felt that Drop D. was in a comfort zone.

As the years went by, Drop D. performed with other bands including one that he himself put together. They called themselves “Precious Pearlz," which was a name that I came up with for them.

"

I believe that one day his dream will become a reality and when it does I pray that I am there with him to share that moment. He has the drive and possesses the talent that will lead him there.
